Building, construction conference on April 25

SALALAH: The Building and Construction Conference will start on April 25 at the Crowne Plaza Salalah Resort. The conference aims to share experiences between engineers and experts interested in the construction sector and learn about the latest developments in civil engineering.

The opening of the conference will be patronised over by Dr Rasheed bin Al Safi Al Huraibi, Chairman of the Tender Board.

Challenges

The conference seeks to provide the opportunity for workers in the construction sector, to see the reality of building and construction and review the challenges and take advantage of opportunities in the sector.

The conference will include a number of working papers and discussion sessions. During the first day of the conference, three main discussion sessions will be held. The first is on the life span of the buildings, catastrophic building errors, the role of restoration and periodic maintenance in prolonging the life span.

The second session, entitled ‘Development of Building Materials and Engineering Computing Programmes’ will review new techniques in construction, the development of gypsum applications and engineering computing programs.

The third session will discuss the reality of construction and community culture on how to resolve disputes between parties in construction.
