Bank Sohar sponsors CBFS career fair 2018
MUSCAT: Bank Sohar recently sponsored the College of Banking and Financial Studies’ (CBFS) Career & Training Opportunities Fair as the gold sponsors, highlighting prospects for the employment of talented youth at the bank as one of Oman’s employers of choice.
Held under the auspices of Tahir bin Salim Al Amri, executive president of Central Bank of Oman, the event bridged the gap between academics and industry, where Bank Sohar delivered insights into the job environment at the bank as well as information on opportunities available for talented Omani youth.
During the course of the fair, representatives of Bank Sohar’s HR team actively engaged with students and potential candidates at the bank’s stall explaining prospects of employment and training at the bank’s various departments. The platform also provided an opportunity for the bank to collect a database of promising candidates that can be looked into for future job employment at the bank.
Commenting on the sponsorship, Sasi Kumar, Acting CEO of Bank Sohar, said, “Career fairs like CBFS’ Career & Training Opportunities Fair enable us to exhibit and provide an insight into the working environment at Bank Sohar as well as offer greater clarity on career paths. Participation at such events is considered vital in the sense that we are not only echoing the national agenda of employing Omani youth but also make the first step in establishing promising and potentially successful careers for talented young Omanis who will continue Bank Sohar’s journey of excellence that started eleven years ago.”
College of Banking and Financial Studies’ Annual Career & Training Fair brings together local financial organisations in an accessible environment to connect with students specialised in a different discipline. Bank Sohar’s sponsorship demonstrated its commitment towards investing in local youth, as previously iterated in successful collaborations with governmental initiatives, campaigns designed to provide greater access to education, and internships for highachievers. In addition to its latest participation in the College of Banking and Financial Studies’ Career & Training Opportunities Fair, and Middle East College’s Career & Training Opportunities Fair 2018 last week, the bank has also previously sponsored training programmes from several other organisations and educational institutions across Oman.
Post joining Bank Sohar’s team, employees get further opportunities to enhance their skills and competencies on an ongoing basis utilising specialised training programs conducted by its in-house Learning Centre and if required, at specialised training institutions; locally or abroad. Additionally, the Bank regularly sponsors young Omanis for further education in banking studies whilst providing staff with overseas training to meet their education requirements.
