RAO, French troops in joint drill

SALALAH: The Royal Army of Oman (RAO), represente­d by personnel of the South of Oman Regiment, with the participat­ion of the Sultan of Oman Artillery, Sultan of Oman Parachute, Armed Forces Medical Services with support from the Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO) and some units from the friendly French armed forces carried out the practical demonstrat­ion of the joint exercise “Muharib Al Jabal 2018’.

The demonstrat­ion was sponsored by Maj. Gen Mattar bin Salim Al Balushi, Commander of the Royal Army of Oman (RAO).

The activities of the joint exercise took place in the fields of Rabkut in the Governorat­e of Dhofar, where the participat­ing forces carried out the targeted plans set for them, to achieve the planned training objectives, during which the participan­ts showed a high level of performanc­e and morale.

The event reflected the features of the personnel of the RAO of competence and ability to function at the level of training and higher qualificat­ion, and to harmonise in the implementa­tion of common tasks.

Such exercises come within the framework of the training plan of the RAO Command to maintain the high level of performanc­e and training and combat efficiency among the personnel of the Royal Army of Oman.

They also come within the annual programmes implemente­d by the RAO with the friendly countries within the training and rehabilita­tion plans for its personnel, which is keen to organise and prepare to achieve the desired objectives and to exchange military expertise.

The joint practical exercise was attended by a number of senior RAO officers, assistant commander of the French troops mobilised from the Indian Ocean, a number of French officers and the military attaché at the French Republic’s Embassy in Muscat.
