MSM index ends higher

Out of 51 traded securities, 20 rose, 14 declined and 17 remained unchanged.

MUSCAT: The MSM30 Index continued its positive trend to close at 4,827.89 points, up 0.14 per cent. The MSM Sharia Index rallied 0.81 per cent to end at 679.17 points. Due to a special deal, Ahli Bank was the most active in terms of volume as well as turnover.

The top gainer was National Mineral Water, up 53.85 per cent while Oman National Engineerin­g was the top loser, down 9.60 per cent.

A total number of 1,417 trades were executed on Monday, generating turnover of OMR37.0 million with 208.2 million shares changing hands. Out of 51 traded securities, 20 advanced, 14 declined and 17 remained unchanged.

At the session close, Omani investors were net buyers for OMR23.4 million while GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR23.1 million followed by Foreign investors for OMR287,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index had strong gain of 0.69 per cent to close at 7,432.89 points.

Al Madina Takaful, Al Madina Investment­s, National Life Insurance, Bank Nizwa and HSBC Bank gained 7.37 per cent, 3.51 per cent, 3.13 per cent, 2.27 per cent and 1.85 per cent respective­ly. Al Ahlia Insurance, Bank Muscat, Gulf Investment Services, Bank Sohar and Al Anwar Holding declined 2.22 per cent, 1.04 per cent, 0.88 per cent, 0.67 per cent and 0.61 per cent respective­ly.
