International experts and local stars to speak at Oman Sports Conference
MUSCAT: Omani star athletes and international experts will share their experiences at the Oman Sports Conference on Thursday.
The annual Conference, organised by the Ministry of Sports Affairs will take place at Sheraton Oman with the Mohammed bin Salim Al Toobi, Minister of Environment and Climate Affairs, presiding over the inaugural ceremony in the presence of Sheikh Saad bin Mohammed Al Mardhoof Al Saadi, Minister of Sports Affairs.
Among the key speakers at the fifth edition of the conference will be Omani stars, including Gulf Cup hero Fayeez Al Rusheidi, rising motorsport star Shihab Al Habsi and star woman athlete Mazoon Al Alawi.
The annual event is being organised with the main objective of exchanging experiences and opening doors for co-operation in the sports and youth sectors.
Besides the local stars, the conference will also see international officials, including AFC SecretaryGeneral ‘Dato’ Windsor John.
The conference will start with a session on the Omani sports strategy. The conference will also cover the key issues related to youth and sports on the national level. It will also highlight the rapid changes being witnessed in these sectors.
In the second session, AFC’s Windsor John will present a paper on ‘Sports Planning’ covering the subjects like governance of the international sports organisations.
The well-known local sports experts will also speak on the importance of youth training centres run by Ministry of Sports Affairs and sports academies.
