Construction conference to begin on Wednesday

SALALAH: The Building and Construction Conference will begin on Wednesday. The conference aims to share experiences among engineers and experts interested in the construction sector and learn about the latest developments in civil engineering. The opening of the conference will be held under the patronage of Dr Rasheed bin Al Safi Al Huraibi, Chairman of the Tender Board. The two-day conference seeks to provide the opportunity for workers in the construction sector, to evaluate the status of building and construction and review the challenges and take advantage of opportunities in the sector. The conference will include a number of working papers and discussion sessions. During the first day of the conference, three main discussion sessions will be held. The first is on the life span of the buildings, catastrophic building errors, the role of restoration and periodic maintenance in prolonging the life span. The second session, entitled ‘Development of Building Materials and Engineering Computing Programs will review new techniques in construction, the development of gypsum applications and engineering computing programs. The third session will discuss the status of construction and community culture on how to resolve disputes between parties in construction. The second day includes three workshops on the common building malpractices, the professional engineering supervision and the legal responsibility at the time of construction.
