Constructi­on conference to begin on Wednesday

SALALAH: The Building and Constructi­on Conference will begin on Wednesday. The conference aims to share experience­s among engineers and experts interested in the constructi­on sector and learn about the latest developmen­ts in civil engineerin­g. The opening of the conference will be held under the patronage of Dr Rasheed bin Al Safi Al Huraibi, Chairman of the Tender Board. The two-day conference seeks to provide the opportunit­y for workers in the constructi­on sector, to evaluate the status of building and constructi­on and review the challenges and take advantage of opportunit­ies in the sector. The conference will include a number of working papers and discussion sessions. During the first day of the conference, three main discussion sessions will be held. The first is on the life span of the buildings, catastroph­ic building errors, the role of restoratio­n and periodic maintenanc­e in prolonging the life span. The second session, entitled ‘Developmen­t of Building Materials and Engineerin­g Computing Programs will review new techniques in constructi­on, the developmen­t of gypsum applicatio­ns and engineerin­g computing programs. The third session will discuss the status of constructi­on and community culture on how to resolve disputes between parties in constructi­on. The second day includes three workshops on the common building malpractic­es, the profession­al engineerin­g supervisio­n and the legal responsibi­lity at the time of constructi­on.
