OFIC pacts to boost food security
The agreement included the first package for the initial construction works of Nama Poultry
MUSCAT: Oman Food Investment Holding Company (OFIC) and its subsidiaries signed on Tuesday a number of agreements related to preparing feasibility studies for some food security projects in the Sultanate.
The agreement included the first package for the initial construction works of Nama Poultry Co in the Wilayat of Ibri in the Governorate of A’Dhahirah, the initial construction works of Al Bashayir Meat Co in the Wilayat of Thumrait in the Governorate of Dhofar.
The feasibility studies’ agreements for the agricultural production and marketing, the construction of food innovation complex and food logistic company were also signed by Eng. Saleh bin Mohammed Al Shanfari, CEO OFIC.
Dr. Rashid bin Salim Al Masrouri, CEO of the Public Authority for Stores and Food Reserve said that the agreements come within OFIC’s plan to enhance food security and self-sufficiency in some agricultural commodities.
On his part, Eng. Saleh bin Mohammed Al Shanfari, CEO of OFIC said that the agreements include laying the foundation stones for the construction works for Nama Poultry and Al Bashayir meat projects.
He added that the Al Nama poultry project will stretch over more than 68 square kilometers in Al Safa in the Wilayat of Ibri in the Governorate of A’Dhahirah.
Eng. Yaaqoub bin Mansour A’ Ruqaishi, Director General of Al Nama Poultry stressed the importance of the project pointing out that it is one of the key leading national projects and will help achieve food security.
