MSM index ends higher

National Gas was the top gainer, up 6.69 per cent, while Constructi­on Materials was the top loser, down 3.70 per cent

MUSCAT: The MSM30 Index ended with marginal gains of 0.13 per cent to close at 4,762.01 points. The MSM Sharia Index ended at 655.80 points, down 0.36 per cent. Ahli Bank was the most active in terms volume as well as turnover. National Gas was the top gainer, up 6.69 per cent, while Constructi­on Materials was the top loser, down 3.70 per cent.

A total number of 472 trades were executed, generating turnover of OMR 2.82 million with 14.1 million shares changing hands. Out of 36 traded securities, 7 advanced, 16 declined and 13 remained unchanged. At the session close, Omani investors remained net buyers for OMR 825,000 followed by Foreign investors for OMR 2,000 while GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR 827,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index ended at 7,282.08 points, down 0.04 per cent. Ominvest, Dhofar Insurance and Ahli Bank advanced 2.70 per cent, 1.96 per cent and 1.88 per cent respective­ly. DBIH, Al Anwar Holding, Muscat Finance, Al Sharqia Investment­s and Al Izz Bank declined 6.00 per cent, 1.99 per cent, 1.96 per cent, 1.61 per cent and 1.28 per cent respective­ly.

Industrial Index declined 0.22 per cent to finish at 6,304.39 points. Constructi­on Materials, Al Anwar Ceramics and Oman Cement decreased 9.38 per cent , 1.74 per cent and 0.56 per cent respective­ly.

Services Index closed at 2,556.99 points, up 0.10 per cent. National Gas, Sohar Power, Omantel and Renaissanc­e Services gained 6.69 per cent, 1.72 per cent, 0.94 per cent and 0.52 per cent respective­ly.

Al Batinah Power, MCDE and Al Suwadi Power declined 2.92 per cent, 2.67 per cent and 1.50 per cent respective­ly.
