MUSCAT: The Embassy of India, Muscat, is organising an India-Oman business-to-business (B2B) meeting on Wednesday to facilitate interaction and tie-ups between 24 Indian hospitals and medical institutions, and other stakeholders in Oman’s healthcare sector.

Representatives of 24 Indian hospitals, led by Dr S Sajikumar, Chairman, Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) Kerala and Chief Physician & Managing Director, Dhatri Group, are in Oman to participate in “IMTEC Oman 2018 Exhibition & Conference”, which is being held from April 24-26. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation in healthcare was signed during the visit of the Prime Minister of India to Oman.

Investment

Indian hospitals have opened branches in Oman and Indian businesspersons have invested in hospitals and clinics in Oman. Indian doctors and paramedics are known for their professional competence and personal care.

India is a preferred destination among the people of Oman for medical tourism. With the finest doctors, world-class medical facilities and holistic healthcare options, India is known for providing quality healthcare at an affordable cost. The B2B meeting is a part of the Embassy’s endeavour to promote medical tourism from Oman to India.

The Indian Embassy has been striving to ensure that Omanis seeking medical treatment in India do not face any difficulty in obtaining visas. The Embassy issues medical visas on a priority basis, with a separate application counter at the BLS Centre. Fees have been reduced to OMR30.900 for medical visas valid up to six months and OMR46.300 for visas valid up to one year. Medical visas are issued with double and multiple entries, on a case-to-case basis, based on a report from an Omani hospital and an appointment letter from an Indian hospital.

Medical visas

People in Oman can also obtain medical visas through a completely online procedure. These e-medical visas are valid for three visits and cost around OMR20.000. The duration of stay is up to 60 days. However, on the recommendation of the Indian hospital concerned, the Foreigners Regional Registration Officer (FRRO) can allow extension of stay up to six months.

Separate counters

To help foreign nationals, including Omanis, visiting India for medical treatment, the Government of India has decided to open separate counters at immigration points for the speedy and smooth clearance of medical visa holders, initially at six International Airports: Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.

The B2B meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 25, at 5.30pm, at the Indian Embassy in the diplomatic area Al Khuwair.
