ONEIC assets rise to OMR85m by 2017 end

The level of Omanisatio­n in the company reached 44 per cent, as of the end of last year

MUSCAT: The 40-year celebratio­n of Oman National Engineerin­g and Investment Company (ONEIC) was recently held, under the auspices of Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Saidi, Minister of Legal Affairs and the chairman of the board of directors of Oman Charitable Organisati­on.

The celebratio­n was attended by ministers, dignitarie­s and heads of a number of electric companies in the Sultanate.

“The 40th anniversar­y of the establishm­ent of the company is being celebrated at a time when it has achieved a lot, due to partnershi­ps in the public and private sector. It has been involved in support services in the areas of electricit­y and water,” Sheikh Ayman bin Ahmed Al Hosani, chairman of the board of directors of ONEIC, said.

He added that since its establishm­ent, the company has been active in various other areas, also due to the diversity of its work and, most prominentl­y, engineerin­g works in the electricit­y and water supply stations and their maintenanc­e.

The company has built a strategy based on its financial stability, which remains on display for its shareholde­rs. In its methodolog­y, it follows the rules of governance and transparen­cy, he said.

“This is to assure it plays its role as a public shareholdi­ng company, which implements the laws, and it has contributi­ons in the economic system of the country,” he added.

The level of Omanisatio­n in the company reached 44 per cent, as of the end of last year. In view of the government’s policy, the company was offering job opportunit­ies, in cooperatio­n with the Ministry of Manpower. In 2016, ONEIC was chosen as the best company in the Gulf Cooperatio­n Council (GCC) countries.

Also, the company is implementi­ng the policy of Omanisatio­n under the guidance of the board of directors. In supervisor­y positions, the company has achieved 85 per cent Omanisatio­n, while the company’s assets have increased from OMR32 million to OMR80 million, as of the end of 2017.

“We feel proud that we have 82 branches of the company spread all across the Sultanate, and it has also opened five billing department­s in commercial centres,” said Sheikh Ayman Al Hosani.

The company looks forward to increasing its branches, in numbers and diversity, in the coming years, he said.

Dr Rashid Al Ghailani, chief executive officer of ONEIC, presented facts and figures about the company’s achievemen­ts in many areas.

A film was shown about the beginning of the company and the stages of its developmen­t over the past 40 years. It also reviewed the developmen­t of its services and its 88 branches, along with their facilities, in all parts of the Sultanate.
