Mi Store organises unique workshop for visually impaired
MUSCAT: Mi Store in collaboration with Information Technology Authority (ITA) and Al Noor Association for the Blind organised a workshop to celebrate Global Accessibility Awareness Day. The event took place in the Mi Store at Oman Avenues Mall.
The event combined technology with the needs of special individuals through a unique workshop for visually impaired individuals. The presenter of the workshop Ali Al Amri, who is an IT expert and visually impaired as well, was happy to know about the collaboration between Mi Store, ITA and Al Noor to organise this event to shed light on special needs individuals.
The workshop started with a speech by Rashed Al Farsi, a representative from Al Noor, who spoke about the association and its excitement in participating in the workshop, he also expressed some of its goals and vision for the blind community in Oman. Ali kicked off the workshop by talking about the amazing focus Apple has put in its line of different products to assist people with special needs and make their life much easier. He spoke about the basic features such as Voice Over, its ease to use in calling, texting, emailing, tweeting and with different

applications to help them blend in with the society.
Ali went on to demonstrate the use of some applications that were made just for visually impaired individuals and how this particular community is very grateful for such applications, it makes such a difference in their lives. Some of those applications were Be My Eyes, Seeing Eye, Omani Currency, and many others.
