MSM index ends lower

The top gainer of the day was Ooredoo Oman, up by 2.02 per cent while Al Anwar Ceramics down by 4.27 per cent was the top loser

MUSCAT: The MSM30 continued its downward trend amid thin trading activity to close at 4556.70 points, down by 0.49 per cent . MSM Sharia index closed at 654.52 points, down by 0.38 per cent. Galfar Engineerin­g was the most active in terms of volume while Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of turnover. The top gainer was Ooredoo Oman, up by 2.02 per cent while Al Anwar Ceramics down by 4.27 per cent was the top loser.

A total number of 441 trades were executed during the day’s trading session generating turnover of OMR1.31 million with more than 8.86 million shares changing hands. Out of 38 traded stocks, 3 advanced, 19 declined and 16 remained unchanged. At the session close, Oman investors were net buyers for OMR695,000 while GCC& Arab investors were net sellers for OMR416,000 followed by Foreign investors for OMR279,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index was down by 0.79 per cent to close at 7150.61 points. Taageer Finance was the only gainer in the sector and was up by 0.93 per cent to close at OMR0.109. Ominvest, Bank Nizwa, Muscat Finance and Al Izz Islamic Bank declined by 3.13 per cent, 2.25 per cent, 2.15 per cent and 1.46 per cent respective­ly.

Industrial Index ended Wednesday’s session at 6098.97 points, down by 0.67 per cent. Al Anwar Ceramics,Galfar Engineerin­g and Oman Fisheries declined by 4.27 per cent, 1.85 per cent and 0.86 per cent respective­ly.

Services Sector Index up by 0.15 per cent to close at 2,467.01 points. Oreedoo Oman and Muscat City Desalinati­on increased by 1.41 per cent and 0.93 per cent respective­ly. Sohar Power, Al Jazeera Services, National Gas and Al Maha Petroleum declined by 3.45 per cent, 2.48 per cent, 2.16 per cent and 1.95 per cent respective­ly.
