GAC supports Ooredoo Goodwill Journey with Mitsubishi fleet

-

MUSCAT: General Automotive Company (GAC), the official distributor of Mitsubishi vehicles in Oman, announced its sponsorship of the Ooredoo Goodwill Journey during the holy month of Ramadan. It is one of Ooredoo’s leading corporate social responsibility projects through which it delivers a number of initiatives and spreads joy to communities across the Sultanate.

Commenting on the sponsorship, Manoj Ranade, the GM of GAC said, “Our partnership with Ooredoo in this project comes as part of our mutual understanding of community work in the Sultanate and our common vision that is reflected in the objectives of the Goodwill Journey. These objectives focus on improving digital lifestyle in education and training, women and Small Office Home Office businesses (SoHos), disability and special needs, and community support projects. This journey is also in line with GAC’s vision of being a pioneering organisation focused on the community.”

Designed to boost sustainability, the plans for 2018 include opening four new Ooredoo Women’s Incubators, extend support to the four Al Wafa Centres, and help less fortunate families in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Development.

Raed Mohammed Dawood, Director of Government Relations and Corporate Affairs at Ooredoo said, “Ramadan is such an important time of the year, dedicated to reflection and unity. Hence, we launched the 14th edition of Ooredoo Goodwill Journey, one of the largest social responsibility initiatives in the Sultanate, supported by several institutions. I would like to extend my thanks to the GAC for providing us with a fleet of Mitsubishi vehicles that will help us reach all places we need to, regardless of the terrains. We also look forward to strengthening our cooperation in other areas and new community initiatives.”

The Goodwill Journey kicked off on Sunday, May 27, at Muscat Grand Mall, with an exhibition organised by the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs. From the capital city, the volunteers will make their way to Salalah. From there, they will proceed to visit several other wilayats across the country before concluding the journey on Thursday, June 7.

Ooredoo continues to focus on driving the empowerment of the female workforce, by enhancing their skillsets through a series of workshops. Ooredoo has selected the Al Wafa Centers this year, to offer a sustainable programme that enhances the learning capabilities of over 500 children with disabilities and special needs.
