Bank Sohar kicks-off staff Ramadan Football Tournament
MUSCAT: Following the success of previous tournaments, Bank Sohar began its annual Ramadan Football Tournament with an impressive audience. As an initiative to promote healthier lifestyles and strengthen team spirit, the bank has formed eight teams comprising of staff from various departments, to participate in the point-based football tournament, which is played during the first three weeks of the holy month of Ramadan.
Commenting on this Tournament’s launch, Mahira Saleh Al Raisi, assistant general manager and head of Human Resources said, “We are keen to host this tournament on a yearly basis as our staff looks forward to it every Ramadan. Such tournaments positively impact team spirit, solidarity interdepartmental communication and teamwork, in addition to promoting the spirit of fair competition and strengthening the relationships outside the work environment. Our annual competition further provides a popular incentive to exercise during Ramadan, an often overlooked requirement to stay healthy.”
The tournament kicked-off on May 20 which received a spectacular turnout of families and spectators cheering for their favourite teams.
The top four teams qualified to the semi-finals, which is expected to take place on May 29, 2018. The finals will be held on June 6, 2018 to determine the champions of the tournament.
She added, “We are very pleased with the wide participation and engagement of our employees in one of our most prominent internal yearly staff events. On behalf of Bank Sohar management team, I wish all the teams the very best of luck for the upcoming matches.”
