MUSCAT: For the third consecutive year, Nama Group launched the third version of Nama Ambassadors programme in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Higher Education and the Ministry of Manpower.

The programme is designed for schools, colleges and universities students plus vocational colleges students from all over the Sultanate.

This programme is part of the projects of environmental pillar of Nama sustainability policy, which aims to introduce students to the concepts of the sustainable environment development, the importance of renewable energy resources, modern technologies as well as planning and implementing sustainable projects.

The initiative also aims at building a future national youth base to contribute to the sustainability patterns in the Sultanate.

The third edition of Nama Ambassadors, under the theme of “Sustainable Environment Development”, has been improved based on the recommendations and comments of the programme’s previous versions.

This year, the programme will focus on reducing carbon emissions in various areas where participants can create and deliver specialised projects.

The participants will be distributed in teams to compete with each other based on the teamwork training and project management and implementation principles they received.

The first phase of the programme’s third edition began with a series of introductory meetings with the participating institutions to find out the programme’s fields, competitions, and types of projects that should focus on the environment sustainability.

The second phase was the registration process, followed by the training stage for universities and colleges, and then the school students.

The training will also include a number of dedicated courses on sustainable development, renewable energy, waste management, the reduction of electricity and water consumption, and recycling technology.

Nama Group seeks to approach as many students as possible and achieve maximum benefits.

As part of the Group’s strategy to support the Omani youth, create job opportunities for them and develop their skills through on-the-job training and knowledge habilitation, Nama Group selected graduates and qualify them to set up their own company, specialised on sustainability and training programmes, to conduct the project in 2018.

This company will visit all governorates to train a number of students in practical and systematic methods that suites their ages.

In addition, it will follow up with the participated teams in the project implementation phase and their initial and final evaluation process.

Since its launch, the total number of students in the first and second editions involved in Nama Ambassador Programme stood at 1,681 from various educational institutions and vocational training centers in the Sultanate.

The number of training hours reached 15,768 hours covering 580 students from the entire Sultanate’s schools, 800 students from colleges and universities, and 301 students from vocational training centres and from fishermen training Institutes in the Sultanate.
