MSM index ends lower

The top gainer was HSBC Bank Oman, up by 2.83 per cent while Bank Muscat, down 4.41 per cent was the top loser of the day.

MUSCAT: The MSM30 Index closed at 4,584.95 points, down by 0.37 per cent. MSM Sharia index closed at 654.5 points, down by 0.15 per cent. HSBC Bank Oman was the most active in terms of volume as well as turnover. The top gainer of the day was HSBC Bank Oman, up by 2.83 per cent while Bank Muscat, down 4.41 per cent was the top loser of the day.

A total number of 437 trades were executed during the day’s trading session generating turnover of OMR2.1 million with more than 13.6 million shares changing hands. Out of 28 traded stocks, 3 advanced, 9 declined and 16 remained unchanged. At the session close, Foreign investors were net sellers for OMR285,000 while Omani investors were net buyers for OMR238,000, followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR47,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index was down by 0.31 per cent and closed at 7,169.22 points. HSBC Bank Oman, Bank Sohar, and Bank Nizwa were the only gainers in the market on Monday and closed higher by 2.83 per cent, 1.46 per cent, and 1.15 per cent respective­ly. Bank Muscat, Al Madina Takaful, Muscat Finance, Sharqiya Investment Holding, and Al Anwar Holding were down by 4.41 per cent, 2.78 per cent, 2.27 per cent, 1.65 per cent, and 0.65 per cent respective­ly.

Industrial Index ended the day’s session at 6,106.30 points, down by 0.24 per cent. Oman cement went down by 1.56 per cent and closed at OMR0.374.

Services Sector Index down by 0.28 per cent to close at 2,462.03 points. National Gas, Phoenix Power, and Omantel were down by 2.86 per cent, 1.63 per cent, and 0.53 per cent respective­ly.
