MGS organises musical game show
MUSCAT: Muscat Gujarati Samaj, popularly known as MGS, the Gujarati Wing of Indian Social Club, recently organised a scintillating Shaam-E-Antakshari event, a musical game show, based on the ever-popular songs and music from Indian cinema.
The MGS Shaam-E-Antakshari event comprised an ensemble of mesmerising melodies taken from the yesteryears and also included vibrant foot-tapping songs of contemporary modern day taste, all of this weaved into a techno-entertaining package wonderfully delivered to a jampacked audience at the Indian Embassy auditorium. The event displayed the classic use of latest technology that enabled the organisers to pack exciting audiovisual rounds as well as incorporate a fastest-finger-first buzzer system, raising the overall level of the event to one of the best, organised locally by MGS.
Preparations for the event started months in advance and the preliminary round for the event was held between 12 participating teams earlier in the day at the same venue, from which six teams moved into the final round. While the preliminary had three sub-rounds, the finals were packed with six exciting rounds, with the level of the challenge being raised with each passing round. The best of Indian cinema was brought to display and participants as well as the audience was left spellbound at watching the marvellous event. The event was aptly peppered with lots of audience questions, to keep them fully engaged and hooked on to the excitement of the musical challenge, Shaam-E-Antakshari.
After nail-biting three hours of the final round, the team that emerged first was Team Ghazal comprising Poonam Joshi, Chintan Joshi and Sameer Kapadia followed by Team Shastriya at the first runner’s up position, comprising Ankita Purana, Shivani Sheth & Heena Udeshi and the Team Bhajan came at the second runner’s up position, comprising Isha Jobanputra, Mili Jobanputra and Leena Trivedi. All the three winning teams were given away high-value prizes, consolation prizes were given away to the fourth, fifth, and sixth position teams as well.
The chief guest for the event was Rakesh Adhalkha, First Secretary at the Indian Embassy and he showered praise on Muscat Gujarati Samaj for organising so many splendid events and quietly progressing and serving the people over the last 43 years. Upon request from the audience, Rakesh also enthralled the gathering by singing a melodious song himself.
