Bank Sohar supports OCA’s Al Dakhiliyah branch
MUSCAT: Empowering local communities towards a healthier future, Bank Sohar has pledged support for an outreach programme led by Oman Cancer Association (OCA), Al Dakhiliyah Branch.
The campaign will target schools and colleges in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate to spread awareness on breast cancer, which will also involve training on self-examination. OCA will further target social gatherings in villages across the governorate to raise awareness on identifying signs of cancer and early detection to ensure swift treatment ensues.
The donation cheque was handed over to Nasser bin Said Al Shukaili, Chairman of OCA, Al Dakhiliya Branch, by Mazin Mahmood Al Raisi, Sr. AGM and Head of Marketing and Customer Experience, at the Bank’s Bahla branch.
Commenting on the support for OCA, Ahmed Al Musalmi, CEO of Bank Sohar, said, “As an organisation committed the empowerment of local people, Bank Sohar is privileged to further its support for OCA on this incredibly important campaign, especially considering the fact that just a couple of years ago the Ministry of Health reported a 25% rise in cancer cases across Oman. Lifestyles are changing quickly and that is not something that can be undone; however, organisations like Bank Sohar and OCA can invest to ensure that people are aware of the signs for disease and when to take immediate action. The sessions held by OCA will quite literally save lives - what could be more important.”
He added, “OCA has proven its effectiveness and value as an asset to the healthcare sector since its inception, and it is no wonder that we maintain a long-term relationship with them which goes back for almost a decade.”
Bank Sohar has supported a broad range of initiatives carried out by OCA over the last few years. In addition to standalone campaigns, the bank remains committed to supporting the association’s public Annual Mammogram Screening programme, it’s Annual Cancer Awareness Walkathon, and its Annual Cancer Walkathon, all of which continue to attract more participants every year.
Nasser bin Said Al Shukaili, Chairman of OCA, Al Dakhiliyah Branch, commented, “Repeated and regular self-examination leads to early diagnosis and a stronger possibility of a complete cure from breast cancer. That is the core reality of our campaign that is thankfully supported by Bank Sohar. Indeed, there is a rise of cancer cases, and our work is of the utmost importance; thus we thank Bank Sohar for its continued support for the people of Al Dakhiliya, in addition to a long history of contribution to the overall health of local communities.”
