A cheque for OMR6,413 was recently presented by the organisers of Spectrum, an exhibition of contemporary art from Pakistan, to the Oman Autism Society (OAS).
The exhibition was held at the Omani Society for Fine Arts (OSFA) in Muscat from April 2 to 12, 2018, to support and raise awareness about the OAS, building on a philanthropic heritage that is deeply rooted in both Pakistan and Oman.
Similar to previous exhibitions, the proceeds from Spectrum were to be donated to a social cause in the Sultanate. The artists chose to donate the proceeds from the sale of eight paintings at a silent auction to the OAS.
Contemporary art
The exhibition displayed 90 works of contemporary art by 22 artists from Pakistan and featured a wide range of fine artwork, including figurative, landscape, abstract, and contemporary pieces, as well as Quranic calligraphy.
Aimed at reinforcing ties between the two nations, Spectrum showcased incredible artwork from some of the finest artists in Pakistan and engaged art enthusiasts in Muscat with the former’s cultural and artistic landscape.
Spectrum is the sixth collaboration between the Pakistani community and the OSFA in as many years.
“We have held five such art exhibitions in the past six years, during which some 52 artists from Pakistan have presented their artwork at the OSFA and conducted workshops and lectures on art as well,” said one of the members of the organising committee.
