BankDhofar conducts ‘Khibrati’ programme

The programme is aimed at equipping students with vocational experience and providing them knowledge of the banking sector. It helps students determine their future career path

MUSCAT: BankDhofar Performanc­e Academy in collaborat­ion with the Ministry of Education conducted ‘Khibrati’ training programme for a number of school students. The two weeks programme was part of Ministry of Education’s ongoing summer vocational programs for students.

The programme aimed at equipping students with vocational experience and providing them knowledge of the banking sector. Commenting on the programme Abdul Hakeem Omar Al Ojaili, CEO of BankDhofar noted: “We are glad to partner with Ministry of Education to conduct such programme which is the first of its kind for school students. Such initiative­s will help the students gain a better understand­ing of the work environmen­t in general and live the experience of working in the banking sector.”

Dr Sana Sabil Al Balushi, general manager at the National Careers Guidance Centre – Ministry of Education said, “The programme which is executed by National Careers Guidance Centre in cooperatio­n with BankDhofar aims at equipping students with the required market skills. The students had the chance to relate theoretica­l aspects learned at school with the work environmen­t, which will help them determine their path to higher education. The programme also aimed at giving the students the opportunit­y to obtain firsthand experience.”

The two weeks programme saw the participat­ion of more than 30 class 10 students, and covered various topics including basic vocational skills. Elaboratin­g on that, Dr Khalid Al Hamadani, head - Learning & Developmen­t noted: “Khibrati training programme aimed at providing school students with required skill sets to join the market. Through the programme, we made sure to give them insights into banking sector culture which will help them determine their future career path. We received positive feedback from the students and we are looking forward to partner with the Ministry of Education for other initiative­s.”

Located in Panorama Mall – 3rd floor, and equipped with state-ofart facilities, Performanc­e Academy includes classrooms where training sessions are conducted, a library full of resources, and computer labs. Additional­ly, with the aim of equipping its employees with required skills to best serve the customers, the academy includes a mock branch where employees are trained and they go through the real experience.

BankDhofar, through the academy, aims to make training available to all its employees through its branch network across Oman. Certified online learning and developmen­t courses will be available for staff of BankDhofar across different regions.
