MSM index ends higher

Omantel, up 1.75 per cent was the top gainer, while Al Sharqia Investment was the top loser, down 6.73 per cent

MUSCAT: The MSM30 Index remained stable at 4,340.57 points, up 0.09 per cent. The MSM Sharia Index closed at 613.39 points, down 0.08 per cent. Galfar Engineerin­g was the most active in terms of volume while Bank Dhofar led in terms of turnover. Omantel, up 1.75 per cent was the top gainer, while Al Sharqia Investment was the top loser, down 6.73 per cent.

A total number of 286 trades were executed during the day’s trading session generating turnover of OMR1.12 million with more than 8.36 million shares changing hands. Out of 30 traded stocks, 5 advanced, 12 declined and 13 remained unchanged. At the session close, Omani investors remained net buyers for OMR64,000 followed by the GCC & Arab investors for OMR11,000, while Foreign Investors were net sellers for OMR75,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index ended at 6,723.58 points, down 0.21 per cent. Al Izz Bank, NBO and Muscat Finance gained 1.27 per cent, 1.16 per cent and 1.15 per cent, respective­ly. Al Sharqia Investment­s, Al Anwar Holding, HSBC Bank, Gulf Investment Services and Al Madina Takaful declined 6.73 per cent, 2.78 per cent, 1.71 per cent, 1.10 per cent and 1.05 per cent respective­ly.

Industry Index retreated 0.38 per cent to finish at 5,584.01 points. Voltamp Energy, up 0.42 per cent, was the only gainer. Oman Fisheries, Galfar Engineerin­g and Al Maha Ceramics declined 4.30 per cent, 1.94 per cent and 1.54 per cent respective­ly.

Services Index gained 0.08 per cent to close at 2,379.82 points. Omantel, up 1.75 per cent was the sole sector gainer. MCDE, OIFC, Al Suwadi Power and National Gas declined 2.26 per cent, 1.00 per cent, 0.86 per cent and 0.61 per cent respective­ly.
