Occidental Oman sponsors Al Wusta Club
MUSCAT: As part of its social responsibility programme, Occidental Oman signed a sponsorship agreement with Al Wusta Club where Occidental Oman will be its exclusive sponsor through the upcoming season of the first division league and His Majesty’s Cup Football Championship.
The signing ceremony was held at Occidental Oman’s Headquarters in Muscat under the auspices of Sheikh Maadhad bin Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Yaaqubi, Governor of Al Wusta. Steve Kelly, president and general manager of Occidental Oman, and Sulayem bin Ali bin Sulayem Al Hikmani, chairperson of the Board of Directors of the club, were signatories for their respective organisations. Saif bin Khalfan Al Busaidi, vice president for HR, Admin and CSR and other management members of Occidental Oman and the club were present at the ceremony.
Since its foundation in 2014, the club has been actively involved in various cultural and sports programmes that serve the youth in all four Wilayats of Al Wusta, namely; Haima, Mahoot, Duqm and Al Jazer. The Al Wusta Club made a remarkable achievement by qualifying from the second to the first division of the Oman football league within one year of joining the league.
“During the last season, we competed in the first division of the Oman football league and secured a place among the top four teams. With the support and sponsorship of Occidental Oman for the upcoming season, we look forward to achieving a better accomplishment that would make the people of Al Wusta Governorate feel proud of this club,” said Al Hikmani of the club.
“Strengthening our social and cultural ties with the local communities where we operate is a strategic objective to which we will always be committed. We have established ourselves as the ‘neighbour of choice’ by implementing several previous initiatives, programmes and sponsorships that target the development of youth talent. We certainly feel happy to see Occidental Oman’s logo on the shirts of these talented footballers and be part of their future success and triumph,” said Kelly.
This sponsorship falls under the umbrella of strategic partnerships and continuous collaboration with key stakeholders and is part of Occidental Oman’s endeavour and long-term commitment to promote good neighbourhood in the local communities.
