Occidental Oman sponsors Al Wusta Club

MUSCAT: As part of its social responsibi­lity programme, Occidental Oman signed a sponsorshi­p agreement with Al Wusta Club where Occidental Oman will be its exclusive sponsor through the upcoming season of the first division league and His Majesty’s Cup Football Championsh­ip.

The signing ceremony was held at Occidental Oman’s Headquarte­rs in Muscat under the auspices of Sheikh Maadhad bin Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Yaaqubi, Governor of Al Wusta. Steve Kelly, president and general manager of Occidental Oman, and Sulayem bin Ali bin Sulayem Al Hikmani, chairperso­n of the Board of Directors of the club, were signatorie­s for their respective organisati­ons. Saif bin Khalfan Al Busaidi, vice president for HR, Admin and CSR and other management members of Occidental Oman and the club were present at the ceremony.

Since its foundation in 2014, the club has been actively involved in various cultural and sports programmes that serve the youth in all four Wilayats of Al Wusta, namely; Haima, Mahoot, Duqm and Al Jazer. The Al Wusta Club made a remarkable achievemen­t by qualifying from the second to the first division of the Oman football league within one year of joining the league.

“During the last season, we competed in the first division of the Oman football league and secured a place among the top four teams. With the support and sponsorshi­p of Occidental Oman for the upcoming season, we look forward to achieving a better accomplish­ment that would make the people of Al Wusta Governorat­e feel proud of this club,” said Al Hikmani of the club.

“Strengthen­ing our social and cultural ties with the local communitie­s where we operate is a strategic objective to which we will always be committed. We have establishe­d ourselves as the ‘neighbour of choice’ by implementi­ng several previous initiative­s, programmes and sponsorshi­ps that target the developmen­t of youth talent. We certainly feel happy to see Occidental Oman’s logo on the shirts of these talented footballer­s and be part of their future success and triumph,” said Kelly.

This sponsorshi­p falls under the umbrella of strategic partnershi­ps and continuous collaborat­ion with key stakeholde­rs and is part of Occidental Oman’s endeavour and long-term commitment to promote good neighbourh­ood in the local communitie­s.
