MUSCAT: Good performance coupled with manoeuvrability, despite its size, along with a safe and comfortable ride are some of the features that have led to the popularity of the formidable Yukon and Yukon XL.

The 2018 Yukon is a full-size SUV in SLE, SLT and Denali trim levels offering three rows of seating. It is equipped with a new dimensional front grille and 10-speed automatic transmission to optimise the overall performance and efficiency of the SUV.

Yukon SLE and SLT are powered by advanced EcoTec3 engines that deliver more horsepower and torque with one of the segment’s best V-8 fuel economy. While the standard engines are 5.3L (2WD models), Yukon Denali has a 6.2L engine with 420hp and 624Nm torque that, along with a 10-speed automatic transmission and enhanced chassis and suspension systems, increases efficiency and refinement.

Bold styling is the hallmark of the Yukon. Its aerodynamic exterior improves highway efficiency and contributes to a quiet ride. Projector-beam headlamps are standard on Yukon and Yukon XL. The Denali model has a signature chrome grill along with high-intensity discharge headlamps that makes it distinguishable.

Yukon’s premium interior complements the unique exterior appointment, making it a distinguished looking vehicle. Attention to detail is a trademark of GMC vehicles and the Yukon lineup is no exception. These include a soft-touch instrument panel, console and door panel materials with French seam stitching and purposeful ambient lighting.

The phone integration technology boosts connectivity and promotes safer driving through Yukon’s IntelliLink system. It allows for smartphones to connect with applications such as navigation, hands-free text messaging and entertainment through the IntelliLink display screen. For models equipped with rear seat entertainment system, the 2018 model brings additional modifications and improvements to the connectivity. In addition, rear passenger tablet users get USB port supporting 2.1amp charging in addition to the existing USB and 220V AC power outlets.

Yukon models are equipped with standard and driver-alert technologies that add layers of crash-avoidance protection as well as enhanced occupant protection in the eventuality of a crash. These include an Enhanced Driver Alert Package, a forward radar system and the segment’s only Front Centre Air Bag, providing added protection for both front occupants in case of a side impact. The Enhanced Driver Alert Package includes Lane Keep Assist that gently steers the vehicle back into its lane when it detects the driver moving out of the intended lane of travel. The package also includes IntelliBeam headlamp technology that turns on and off according to surrounding traffic conditions and a rear vision camera.

Along with driver alert features, standard chassis control crash-avoidance technologies include General Motor’s StabiliTrak electronic stability control with rollover mitigation technology, trailer sway control, hill-start assist and four-wheel, four-channel anti-lock brakes. Available active safety features use the camera, radar and ultrasonic sensors to help avoid crashes. Yukon is also equipped with a Safety Alert Seat that vibrates if the system senses the driver is at risk of colliding with another vehicle.
