Omantel lauded for its support of national and social activities

SALALAH: It was a moment of pride for Oman Telecommunications Company (Omantel) when it was commended for its sponsorship of prestigious Arab Media Forum organised by the Omani Journalists Association in Salalah this week.
Mohammed bin Sultan Al Busaidi, Minister of State and Governor of Dhofar, lauded Omantel for sponsoring tourism and media festivals in Dhofar governorate as well as other national and social events in the Sultanate. The company is engaged in these activities as part of its national and social responsibility.
Speaking on the sidelines of the Arab Media Forum on Monday, Al Busaidi said, “We appreciate Omantel’s efforts in sponsoring tourism and media events held during the monsoon season in Dhofar governorate, locally known as ‘Khareef ’, and all the other national and social activities that take place in the Sultanate throughout the year.”
Al Busaidi noted that these efforts stem from Omantel’s commitment to the national and social responsibilities, and explained that such contributions are vital for the success of these events, “Omantel is a national company and is an integral part of the society,” he commented.
Muna Al Mamari, Acting Senior Manager of Corporate Affairs and Press & Media Manager at Omantel, said, “We believe that having a strategic long-term partnership with the media is essential for building bridges with the society. Therefore, Omantel is keen on boosting ties with the media through various initiatives, this includes annual and regular gatherings with the press, sponsoring training programmes for journalists and conferences.”
She further said, “This time we have brought together Omani journalists and Arab journalists from various Arab nations in ‘Sahal Ateen’ in Salalah, with the presence of Ali bin Khalfan Al-Jabri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information, where we served lunch at Omantel’s camping site. The aim was to offer Omani and Arab journalists a chance to discuss common matters with the ministry collaboratively, and to do business networking in a friendly atmosphere.”
