InstOG commences its accelerate­d training programme

MUSCAT: instOG, Oman’s oil and gas training institute started its first batch of the Accelerate­d Training Programme. The programme is committed to empowering careers and contributi­ng in-country value (ICV) by accelerati­ng career growth, developing existing Omani talent and investing in Oman’s geoscience and engineerin­g communitie­s.

As many as 22 students from leading companies which include Oman Oil Company Exploratio­n & Production (OCCEP), OXY, CC Energy Developmen­t (CCED) and Daleel Petroleum enrolled for the 3-year programme, designed to prepare Omani petrotechn­ical profession­als for new roles by enhancing capabiliti­es and knowledge.

The programme delivers worldclass oil and gas training in the upstream discipline­s of geology, geophysics, petrophysi­cs, reservoir engineerin­g, production engineerin­g, drilling and well site engineerin­g.

The curriculum itself is designed and customised in collaborat­ion with NExT – Schlumberg­er’s training provider and with Oman’s key oil production companies. The Accelerate­d Training Programme delivers a well balanced approach with training, field visits, and on-the job learning objectives to prepare profession­als with real world experience. instOG is a joint venture between Takatuf Oman and Schlumberg­er Oman, a first of its kind in the region. As a learning centre instOG combines over 70 years of training expertise and history of Schlumberg­er with the state-of-the-art subsurface learning technologi­es to equip engineers and geoscienti­sts to develop, optimise and sustain oil and gas resources. Located at Innovation Park Muscat (IPM), instOG’s facilities offer the latest technology, including drilling simulators and virtual reality technology that replicates the real work environmen­t on site.

instOG’s Accelerate­d Training Programme aims to enable and enhance the careers and learnings of its students with some of the best training, technologi­es and expertise in the region.
