Indian Social Club’s Tamil Wing to present musical treat ‘Sangeetha Swarangal’
MUSCAT: Tamil Wing of the Indian Social Club is organising a musical treat titled “Sangeetha Swarangal” featuring the Carnatic vocalist ‘Padma Bhushan’ awardee, Sudha Ragunathan, and honour her with a ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ on October 5, 2018 at the Qurum City Amphitheatre.
The Tamil Wing has been actively organising socio-cultural events regularly to cater to its members with remarkable success. It promotes and holds wide variety of events to cater to the varying tastes of its huge membership base.
An Academic Excellence Award Function was held in 2009 with former president of India Dr A P J Abdul Kalam as the chief guest, provided a once in a lifetime opportunity to its members.
Also, the Tamil Wing treated its members, particularly the music enthusiasts with a wide range of notable achievers in the music industry ranging from the golden era MS Viswanathan, Vairamuthu, Vani Jayaram, SP Balasubramaniam, Unnikrishnan to the latest Naresh Iyer, Haricharan. Tamil Wing honoured Manikka Vinayagam with Lifetime Achievement Award during the last year’s event.
The Tamil Wing takes great pleasure in treating the Sultanate’s audience with the performances by Sudha Ragunathan, India’s leading Carnatic vocalist. A disciple of the legendary Padmabhushan Dr M L Vasanthakumari, Sudha has evolved a style of her own where the soul of her music lies in the dynamism of presentation, with exceptional motifs and matrices of raga image and swaras making it a quintessential amalgam.
Apart from ‘Padma Bhushan’, India’s third highest civilian honour, she is the recipient of ‘Padma Shri’, India’s fourth highest civilian honour, ‘Sangita Kalanidhi’, ‘Kalaimamani’, ‘Sangeetha Choodamani’, ‘Sangeetha Saraswathi’, ‘Sangeetha Visharaadh’, ‘Sangeetha Sampoorna’ for her distinguished services in music. Tamil Wing will be honouring her with Lifetime Achievement Award during her visit to Muscat.
The wing has planned to bring renowned young vibrant music director D. Imman as a special guest. Imman is a famous music director, composer, and singer.
He is a recipient of Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Music Director, Filmfare Award for Best Music Director for Tamil, Vijay Award for Best Music Director and various other awards as well.
Sudha Ragunathan will be joined by other star singers including Kalaimamani Mano, Sadhana Sargam, Mahalingam and singer Priyanka. Lakshman Sruthi will score the music for the show.
Mano, is an Indian playback singer, voice-over artist, actor, producer, television anchor, and music composer.
He is a recipient of several awards such as the Nandi Awards from the Government of Andhra Pradesh and Kalaimamani award from the Government of Tamil Nadu.
Sadhana Sargam is a playback singer of Indian cinema with a career spanning over three decades.
Besides film music, she sings devotional songs, classical music, ghazals, regional film songs and pop albums. She is a recipient of the National Film Award and Filmfare Awards South. She has won five Maharashtra State Film awards and four Gujarat State Film Awards.
Mahalingam is an upcoming young talented male singer (Mattikichu). He is famous as his voice is suited for both light music and folk numbers.
Priyanka NK is a singer with melodious sweet voice from Chennai. She sang her 1st song for Isai Gnani Ilayaraja for the movie Naachiyar.
Archana is one of the best Indian anchor and actress, who is working in Tamil television and film industry. Currently, Archana is working in Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Senior, which is the music reality show in Zee Tamil.
The music for the evening will be scored by the famous Guinness Record holder Lakshman Sruthi (100 per cent manual orchestra) Music troupe from Chennai.
