2nd edition of Roca One Day Design Challenge comes to Oman

MUSCAT: The second edition of the Roca One Day Design Challenge in Oman will take place at the KR Infra Gala Campus in Muscat on September 29, 2018.

The competition, one of the most thrilling contests in the design sector due to its time-trial nature, is currently expanding internationally, with the aim of becoming a reference point among young designers and architects.

Roca One Day Design Challenge is driven by Roca, a global reference in bathroom products, challenging design and architecture students and young professionals under the age of 30 to create original solutions and innovative concepts related to the bathroom space, in just one day.

The competition will be based, once again, on a theme related to the bathroom space and the participants will have to design a product based on a briefing that will be communicated early in the morning.

The participants will need to work against the clock individually or in groups of up to three people. The most important aspects the jury will take into account are the originality, design and usability of the conceived proposals. The contest offers young students and professionals the experience of challenging themselves to produce and develop their most innovative ideas.

The registration period prior to the competition is now open on the website. On the same day, September 29, from 9:30am to 11:00 am, at KR Infra Gala Campus, those interested can also register in person. After the registration and welcome to all participants, the specific briefing of the concept to be designed will be communicated. From then on, and against the clock, participants can work on their proposals until 5:00pm. Once the projects have been submitted and the jury has deliberated, an award ceremony will be held from 7:30pm onwards.

The jury of this second edition of the Roca One Day Design Challenge in Oman is made up of renowned professionals from the design and architecture sectors, such as Fareed Al Battashy, Managing Director of Fareeda Al Battashy Interior Decoration & Design; Surinaa Triveen, Managing Director of Surpassing Standards International LLC; Hilal Sabeel Al Balushi, Managing Director and architect of Corduff Oman, Masood Raza, Design Director WS Atkins Oman and Victor Schoone, Roca Country Manager Middle East.
