Oman Society of Engineers holds seminar
MUSCAT: As part of their annual event programme intended to interact with the society, the Oman Society of Engineers conducted a technical seminar titled “A structured approach towards managing the projects” on September 18.
The seminar was conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and Climate affairs (MECA). The seminar was presented by Eng. Thomas Meijssen, the CEO of Consult 2050. The seminar was attended by many members of the Society of Engineers, faculty, students, contractors and MECA officials.
Eng. Thomas presented a holistic view of Project management and the factors influencing managing large projects. He presented key elements forming a structured approach that will preserve project goals yet avoiding over-run in time and budget, and gave actual examples of local, regional and international projects.
The seminar lasted for 2 hours and covered the following topics: introduction of project initiation, project feasibility, project definition, concept selection and after actions review. Engineer Hamood Al Sinaidi, the Chief Executive Officer of the Oman Society of Engineers, expressed his appreciation to the Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs for hosting the venue to conduct this seminar, and gratitude to Eng. Thomas Meijssen for his presentation. Al Sinaidi also stated that there will be more seminars during this year to communicate and exchange best knowledge among the members and the engineering community in Oman.
Eng. Fuad Al Kindi, vice chairman of Oman society of Engineers, concluded the event by rewarding Eng. Thomas Meijssen certificate of appreciation from Oman Society of Engineers for preparing and delivering this seminar to the audiences.
