Omani delegate praises relations with world intellectu­al property body

GENEVA: The Sultanate participat­ed in the meetings of the WIPO General Assembly at its fiftyeight­h session in Geneva.

The meeting will continue until October 2.

The Sultanate’s delegation is led by Eng. Ahmed bin Hassan Al Dheeb, Undersecre­tary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

Eng. Al Dheeb delivered the opening statement of the Sultanate, in which he praised the relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the World Intellectu­al Property Organisati­on (WIPO) in light of the Sultanate’s implementa­tion of the operationa­l objectives of the National Innovation Strategy.

He said that the Ministry is keen to cooperate with WIPO to find innovative solutions and provide better services through easy and efficient electronic procedures and services available to all in relation to the work of the Intellectu­al Property Department, which reflects the Ministry’s keenness to continuous­ly improve its services.

The Undersecre­tary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry highlighte­d the Sultanate’s active participat­ion in the various programmes and activities of the organisati­on, such as participat­ion in the celebratio­n of the World Intellectu­al Property Day through a series of events in the field of intellectu­al property and the participat­ion of three Omani female inventors to represent the Arab region with a group of inventions in the region.

He stressed the constructi­ve contributi­on of the Sultanate to all the work of the organisati­on.
