Says Alpana Roy, Executive Vice President, United Media Services, the publisher of OER, “Over the years, OER has hosted a number of summits and business forums of significant national interest that have excited the corporate sector. Carrying the main theme ‘Vision 2040 - Making way for Change,’ OER Business Summit 2018 will deliberate on the three key pillars of the 2040 Vision statement – economy and development;people and society; governance and institutional performance. The summit will provide Oman’s corporate leaders and influential policy makers with a firsthand learning opportunity on Vision 2040 and related policy choices and peer-to- peer networking and brainstorming opportunities with industry leaders. With the focus of the country on economic diversification, the private sector has a significant role to play in spurring growth. The summit will look at the preparedness of the private sector to take on this role, their wish list and regulatory changes that need to be taken to encourage private sector investment.”

The summit will have a mix of paper presentations and panel discussions on topics of relevance to the Sultanate’s economy. The discussion will shed light on ‘developing national technical and entrepreneurial capabilities using best practices and technological innovation.

A cross section of policy makers and business leaders will bring to the table their wisdom and explore new avenues for diversification and economic growth. The invitees would include around 250 business leaders and decision makers from the government and corporate sector. Vision 2040 aims to better the quality of life of Oman’s citizens through a progressive, developed and efficient economy. This requires a concerted action plan for education and scientific research, which will in turn build local capability among Omanis to meet the future needs of the market. Training, skilling, use of technology and promoting human capital will foster entrepreneurship and In-Country Value objectives within the Sultanate. The panel discussions will delve into these topics. The panel discussions will be moderated by Nima Abu Wardeh, former presenter of BBC’s ‘Middle East Business Report.’ OER’s Power Brands in Oman 2018 awards will also be presented at the Business Summit.
