MUSCAT: Oman Development Bank (ODB) is organising the fifth edition of its Al-ijadah (proficiency) competition between branches this year. The competition aims to raise the level of operative efficiency among the bank’s branches, to create a stimulating work environment, and to improve the efficiency of branches in achieving their objectives in vital banking areas.
The competion is also an opportunity to highlight ideas and proposals for developing and modernising the work to levels that ensure sustainability and leadership in the banking sector. On the other hand, the competing branches seek to highlight economic development and value-added projects.
Hamed Salem Al Harthy, Chairman of Al-ijadah (Proficiency) Competition Committee, said that the competition will be held among the 17 branches of the bank throughout the governorates of the Sultanate.
The competition aims to encourage the branches to develop their credit services and to add high value to the development loans provided by the bank to the productive and services sectors.
The initiative is part of the bank’s efforts to contribute to the government’s plans for economical diversification, to provide financing for economic projects, and to provide advice to investors on financial and technical aspects that contribute to the success of their projects. He added that the competition has achieved its objectives. He also explained that the competition between the bank’s branches is organised according to precise standards of assessment that include the branches’ objectives and the quality of value-added projects funded by them in 2018.
Stimulating environment
“The aim of the competition is to raise the level of operational results and create a stimulating environment for employees for work, innovation, proficiency, creativity and providing the best and highest quality services to clients in the banking-related business,” Al Harthy stated. He remarked that the competition has achieved an improvement in the level of performance and quality and produced a range of ideas for business development to raise the efficiency of managers and employees in the bank’s branches, especially in the implementation of the bank’s objectives and plans.
He pointed out that the focus now is on the quality of funded projects, especially in the economic sectors that are focused on the five-year plan. He added that the winning branches will be honoured at an annual ceremony held by the bank on this important occasion, in which the financed projects will be presented in connection with the added value they received.
