PDORC pips QBG in last-ball thriller

MUSCAT: In a season of lowscoring thrillers, PDO RC stole a last-ball win against Qurum Business Group (QBG) in a C Division clash at Muscat Municipality ground 1 on Friday.
Chasing a target of 112 to win, PDO managed to seal the victory when No. 10 Fiyaz Kamal dispatched the last ball of the match to the boundary. Tayyab Rasheed was PDO’s highest scorer with a patient 18 off 26. Rajeesh Ravi and Ali took two wickets each for QBG.
Batting first, QBG was bundled out for 111 in the 19th over, Nousad Haneefa topscoring with 48 off 39. Sajid Ali bowled a brilliant spell, taking 4 for 13. Abdul Naveed and Hassan Siddiqui claimed two wickets each.

Orient Travels win
Ibrar Hussain’s superb all-round show was the highlight of Orient Travels/GBL’s exciting 4-wicket victory against Zubair CT in a D Division game at Muscat Municipality ground 2.
Struggling to find its feet, Zubair CT was dismissed for a paltry 116 in 19 overs. Ruwa (34 off 25) and Balachandran Ramachandran (26 off 32) were the only notable scorers. Ibrar bowled beautifully, taking 3 for 16 while Shoab Mohammed bagged 3 for 27. In an amazing spell, Muhammed Umar picked 2 wickets for only 8 runs in his 4 overs.
Orient Travels reached the target with two overs to spare, scoring 118 for 6 thanks to Ibrar’s fluent 25. Mayalakkara and Ruwa claimed two wickets each.

Easy win for Unique Elegant
Experienced Omani player Amit Sampat slammed a strokeful 53 not out and Irtaza took 4 wickets to take Unique Elegant to a thumping 9-wicket win over RAHRC at Muscat Municipality ground 3.
Finding runs hard to come by, RAHRC was bowled out for 100 in 17 overs. Miras Mohammed scored 29 off 23 while Ajithkumar Krishna chipped in with 24 off 21. Irtaza Ahmed was the pick of the Elegant bowlers, taking 4 wickets for 20 runs.
Unique Elegant raced to the target in just 11.1 overs, scoring 104 for 1 thanks to Sampat’s sizzling knock. Bishen Singh batted well too for his unbeaten 26 off 15.

Danish, Malhotra shine for Masters
Danish Mohammed bagged four wickets while Sachin Malhotra stroked a lovely half century batting at number 9 to help Muscat Masters to a comfortable 40-run victory against Silkgate CT in an F Division match at Muscat Municipality ground 4.
Batting first, Masters were in deep trouble at 93 for 7 before Malhotra made things look easy with his strokeplay, stealing 50 quick runs off just 22 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes to help his team to 161 for 7 in 20 overs. Muhammed Rashid contributed 27. Avinesh Joseph bagged 3 for 27.
Silkgate found the going tough and was quickly dismissed for 121 in the 20th over. Javed Mohammed was the only notable scorer with 30 off 24. Danish Mohammed was the star with the ball, taking 4 for 14 while Joy Rohan claimed 3 for 15.

Rajeev helps Maxitech to big win
Rahul Rajeev’s unbeaten 53 was the highlight of Maxitech International’s huge win against Design Group Engineering Consultants in another F Division game at the same venue.
Chasing 112 to win, Maxitech took only 12 overs to reach the target, scoring 114 for 1. Apart from Rajeev, Sajeev Sathyanandan batted well too, scoring run-a-ball 31.
