MUSCAT: Coming to the Middle East for the first time, and held under the auspices of the Ministry of Oil and Gas, Sultanate of Oman, the SPE International Hydraulic Fracturing Technology Conference and Exhibition will take place in Muscat, Oman, from October 16-18.

The event is critically important to our industry and builds on the success of the popular SPE Hydraulic Fracturing Technology Conference in Texas, USA, which has attracted more than 15,500 attendees over the last 10 years.

The conference theme is “Cracking the Code and Taking Fracturing Global”. A highly impressive speaker line-up promises to define and debate engineering challenges faced by the fracturing community including the successes and advancements to date. The conference expects to attract more than 500 industry experts to lead and discuss the latest developments, case studies, best practices, and industry trends, encouraging the exchange of valuable technical knowledge on current and proven technologies.

“The conference provides a great opportunity to bring global expertise to the region to share their experiences, and seek further collaboration and opportunities. There is a lot to learn from the technological and innovation revolution in this space, especially from the US,” said Ali Al Gheithy, Petroleum Engineering Director, Petroleum Development Oman, and Conference Chair.

“The pace and the ability to adapt with the market dynamics of what has been achieved is remarkable to say the least; production continues to increase, while costs are being optimised and reduced. We, in the region, can take the opportunity to learn and partner with service providers and innovators from the US for several applications in the region and beyond, thus, Cracking the Code and Taking Fracturing Global,” he added.

Hydraulic fracturing continues to be a topic of broad and current interest and this conference is an ultimate platform to explore this technology.
