MUSCAT: Proximity of Al Zain’s chicken farm to Muscat will be an added advantage, company representatives said.

The farm being close would aid in Zain’s logistics and distribution efforts, they added. Their farm in question is spread across 16 square km of land at Bumsika, Sinaw.

Chicken farm

“Our chicken farm is some 250 kms away from Muscat. This will help us have some ease in getting our product to the city, where a huge number of people are concentrated,” Shabbir Boriyawala, chairman of Al Zain Farm LLC said. The chairman of the company made the remarks at the sidelines of the launch of Al Zain’s frozen whole chicken products. He added that he was confident about competing in the market.

“With today’s launch, we are aiming at making available the best fresh and frozen Omani chicken direct from the farm to our customers.

“Our eggs are already in the market and we have carved out a good space for ourselves. I’m sure we’ll be able to do the same with our chicken products. People will be able to tell the difference very early on,” Boriyawala remarked.

Chicken products

The company also disclosed that their chicken products will be available all over Oman, besides UAE and Qatar.

Al Zain Farm’s eggs have been in the Omani market for three years. Company representatives emphasised that their chickens are hand slaughtered and in accordance with the Sharia.

The company also boasts of the latest European technology, vegetarian feed for chickens, leak proof packing in absorbent trays, besides air chilled products that preserve the freshness of the meat and makes it easier to cook, compared to water-chilled chickens that absorb a lot of moisture.

Egg production up

The company also disclosed that they had ensured a significant jump in their production of eggs.

“We started our production of eggs in April 2015 and our output was about 100 million eggs, back then. Three years later (by 2018), our production increased about 33 per cent to 130 million eggs,” a company representative said.

State-of-the-art plant

“In view of our better facilities and state-of-the-art machinery and plant, we are in a better position to offer standard quality products in line with the fast changing global market,” Boriyawala added.

All the chickens are placed in an environmentally-controlled atmosphere in the cages under the strict supervision of technical experts.

With the launch, Al Zain fresh and frozen whole chickens are available in the range of 700 grams to 1.3 kgs, besides chicken parts in separate packages.
