MOUs signed on vocational training, climate

Oman and Singapore sign memoranda of understand­ing in two fields

MUSCAT: The Sultanate, represente­d by the Ministry of Environmen­t and Climate Affairs and the Ministry of Manpower, yesterday signed memoranda of understand­ing (MoU) with the Republic of Singapore on environmen­t and vocational training.

The first MoU on environmen­t was signed by Mohammed bin Salim Al Toobi, Minister of Environmen­t and Climate Affairs and Masagos Zulkifli, Minister of the Environmen­t and Water Resources in Singapore.

The Minister of Environmen­t and Climate Affairs said that the MoU between Singapore and the Sultanate in the field of environmen­t is related to the exchange of views and expertise in the field of environmen­t, climate affairs and nature conservati­on.

He added that the MoU will enhance the existing cooperatio­n between the two sides in this field.

The second MoU in the field of vocational training was signed by Dr. Muna bint Salim Al Jardaniyah, Undersecre­tary of the Ministry of Manpower for Technical Education and Vocational Training and Bruce Poh, CEO of Institute of Technical Education in Singapore.

Dr. Al Jardaniyah said that the MoU covers cooperatio­n between the two sides in the field of vocational training.

She said that the MoU provides for sharing experience­s between the two countries in the field of vocational training.

She added that Oman has developed vocational training and education system, which now attracts students, thanks to its studentfri­endly environmen­t.

The MoU signing ceremony was attended by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, secretary general of the foreign ministry, Teo Chee Hean, Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinati­ng Minister for National Security in Singapore, Omani and Singaporea­n officials.

Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud Al Busaidi, Secretary General of the Foreign Ministry held a meeting with Teo Chee Hean, Deputy Prime Minister, Coordinati­ng Minister for National Security of Singapore and his accompanyi­ng delegation.

Sayyid Badr reviewed the strong relation between the Sultanate and Singapore, as well as economic and educationa­l cooperatio­n and investment opportunit­ies between the two countries and exchanging experience­s in aspects related to technical education, environmen­t, research, studies and other fields.

The two sides also touched on security and geostrateg­ic issues and challenges of common concern.
