MUSCAT: EY Oman edged past KPMG to lift the Auditors Cricket Cup which was played during the weekend in Muscat.
Winning the toss KPMG put the EY into bat restricting them to a modest total of 48 runs in their allotted 6 overs. Requiring 47 runs to win EY’s bowlers bowled tight line to bowl out KPMG in 5.5 overs to lift the Cup. Pankaj Gupta from EY was declared man of the match in the finals. In the first semifinal played between KPMG and HC Shah, saw KPMG win the match by 4 wickets and a spot in the final. Kaustubh was awarded the man of the match. In the second semifinal between EY and PwC.
Winning the toss and electing to field EY managed to restrict PwC to a total of 61 in the stipulated 6 overs. In reply, EY achieved their target with 9 balls to spare. The highlight was Omar Sarfraz’s 6 sixes in one over which earned him the man of the match and man of the tournament award. The tournament was well contested between seven audit firms – EY, PwC, Deloitte, KPMG, HC Shah, Ibn Hyan and Crowe. On the sideline of the main tournament a women cricket match was held with HC Shah being declared the winners after defeating Crowe. HC Shah won the game by 6 runs.
