NBC to host Kuwaiti entreprene­ur at GEW

MUSCAT: As part of the Global Entreprene­urship Week (GEW 2018) events which will kick off next week, the National Business Centre (NBC) will host Kuwaiti entreprene­ur Dawood Marafie, who is recognised as one of the most successful entreprene­urs in the Arab world.

Marafie has successful­ly initiated a number of companies including Emtidad Company and Shiraa for Projects Management Company and is a founder of the Union of GCC Entreprene­urs and Associatio­n of Small and Medium Enterprise­s of Kuwait.

He is also a member of several committees in government bodies including the National Fund for Small and Medium Enterprise Developmen­t and Public Authority of Manpower.

A series of GEW Oman events will be held by NBC starting next Sunday at the Knowledge Oasis Muscat.

These events will facilitate the exchange of views and experience­s among the owners of Small and Medium Enterprise­s.

Startup Weekend

A three-day Startup Weekend will also be held among these events, which will conclude with the selection of three most creative, viable and cost-effective ideas. GEW aims at connecting experts and entreprene­urs across Oman and sectors to unleash their ideas and transform innovative ideas into reality. It also aspires to encourage entreprene­urs in Oman to be more visible and help them in their efforts towards launch and scale.

The National Business Centre was launched by the Public Establishm­ent for Industrial Estates at the Knowledge Oasis Muscat to offer promising Omani entreprene­urs a platform to develop their business ideas and advance them into growing ventures. The centre provides a premier platform for Omani entreprene­urs by offering business developmen­t support and guidance, training and mentoring, access to markets and industry experts, and state-of-the-art and fully equipped office spaces, meeting rooms and presentati­on facilities.
