Fourth Mitsubishi Oman Handball School Championship organised
The Championship was held at Nizwa Sports Complex in the Al Dakhiliyah Governorate recently
MUSCAT: The third phase of the fourth edition of the Mitsubishi Oman Handball School Championship was held at Nizwa Sports Complex in the Al Dakhiliyah governorate recently. The championship first kicked off at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher where four schools from the Muscat governorate participated. In the second leg of the tournament four schools from the Al Batinah North governorate had participated.
The Mitsubishi Oman Handball School Championship is being organised by Mitsubishi Oman, represented by General Automotive Company, in association with the Oman Handball Association (OHA). General Automotive Company, which is the official distributor for Mitsubishi vehicles in Oman, is a subsidiary of the Zubair Automotive Group, the flagship enterprise of the Zubair Corporation (Z-Corp). Under the framework of augmenting public and private sector partnership Z-Corp has been backing all the activities of Oman Handball Association since it signed an agreement in October 2015.
The opening ceremony was attended by officials from The Zubair Corporation, officials from Oman Handball Association and a number of senior executives from Z-Corp and Zubair Automotive Group.
Four schools from the Al Dakhiliyah governorate participated in the championship matches held in Nizwa. A group of referees accredited by the Omani Handball Federation supervised the matches.
Among the Al Dakhiliyah governorate schools while Mohamed bin Jaffer School for Basic Education won the first place, the second place was won by Al Bashir bin Al Munther School for Basic Education. The third place was won by Mohammed bin Roh Al Kindi School for Basic Education and the fourth place went to Mousa bin Ali School for Basic Education.
The matches in connection with the fourth edition of the Mitsubishi Oman Handball School Championship will also be held in schools in Al Batinah South governorate, Dhofar governorate and Al Buraimi governorate over the next few days with Muscat governorate, Al Batinah North governorate and Al Dakhiliyah governorate already completing the matches.
Dr Said bin Ahmed Al Shehri, chairman of the Oman Handball Association said, “Inspiring school students’ participation in such tournaments will make a positive difference to their lives. The championship has witnessed success due to the constant efforts and cooperation of Zubair Corporation, Mitsubishi, Oman Handball Association, Ministry of Education and local schools.”

Z-Corp has played a key role in sponsoring and developing sports in the Sultanate by supporting professional and amateur sports organisation, sports clubs and competitions. The group has a strong commitment to supporting sports team, clubs and organisations across the Sultanate.
In January 2018, Z-Corp extended support to Oman Handball Association to organise a school tournament at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex.
Last year in March, Z-Corp supported Oman Mitsubishi Handball Joiners Championship held at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex. Oman Mitsubishi had organised the competition in association with the Oman Handball Association.
In July, to recognise the outstanding contribution of players who represented the Sultanate, Z-Corp and Mitsubishi Oman felicitated the Sultanate’s national handball players at the Mitsubishi showroom. Z-Corp also honoured the referees who participated in the Mitsubishi Oman Handball School Championship held across the governorates of the Sultanate between January and April 2018.
