Bank Muscat joins hands with the Secretaria­t General of the Education Council to highlight HR practices

MUSCAT: Bank Muscat, the flagship financial services provider in the Sultanate, in partnershi­p with the Secretaria­t General of the Education Council, organised a knowledge sharing workshop at the bank’s head office to discuss the best HR strategies and practices. Dr Said bin Hamad Al-Rubaii, Secretary General of the Education Council, presided at the workshop attended by key government­al and private sector institutio­ns.

On this occasion, Al Rubaii, said that human capital is the foundation of the nation’s developmen­t and it is a shared responsibi­lity between educations institutio­ns and all different sectors to prepare skilled and trained human cadres necessary for the labour market. Al Rubaii added that Bank Muscat has a clear mechanism and methodolog­ical criteria to attract national talents to work in various jobs in the bank. At all levels, Al Rubaii encourages educationa­l and training institutio­ns to update and leverage on their programmes and to introduce the latest technical developmen­ts for the preparatio­n of the Omani generation­s for different jobs and profession­s, in line with the future requiremen­ts of various sectors of developmen­t in the Sultanate and in line with the general directions of Oman’s 2040 vision

Ahmed Faqir Al Balushi, DGM – Human Resources, made a presentati­on on the overview of HR strategy and its alignment with the overall Bank Muscat strategy. Bank Muscat’s HR practices focus on creating, nurturing and supporting people to meet the ambitious growth plans of the bank, through a wide variety of initiative­s that cover all stages of employee life cycle. Bank Muscat is proud to have set a fine example in continuous­ly building human capacity and creating rewarding career opportunit­ies.

Bank Muscat has outstandin­g leadership at all levels and has achieved 94.57 per cent Omanisatio­n, giving priority for Omanis to occupy key positions. Of the total 3,646 employees, the number of Omani employees stands at 3,453. Omanis form 75% in the higher management and 92.6% in the middle management cadres.

The bank encourages diversity at the workplace in terms of gender, age and skill set. The human resources strategy is notable as 48 per cent of employees are women holding various positions, including senior management positions.

The bank, in step with its vision ‘To serve you better, everyday’ and commitment to partnershi­p in sustainabl­e developmen­t of human resources, has made major headway with its Jadara Academy programmes to build a potential leadership pipeline.

The Jadara Academy serves as a comprehens­ive platform for all staff learning and developmen­t programmes in the bank. The unique management developmen­t programmes launched in collaborat­ion with Harvard Business Publishing, Duke Corporate Education and INSEAD Business School are among some of the most ambitious initiative­s by the bank to equip Omani employees with the best in class developmen­t opportunit­ies to attain higher levels of profession­al competence and skills.
