Bank Muscat joins hands with the Secretariat General of the Education Council to highlight HR practices
MUSCAT: Bank Muscat, the flagship financial services provider in the Sultanate, in partnership with the Secretariat General of the Education Council, organised a knowledge sharing workshop at the bank’s head office to discuss the best HR strategies and practices. Dr Said bin Hamad Al-Rubaii, Secretary General of the Education Council, presided at the workshop attended by key governmental and private sector institutions.
On this occasion, Al Rubaii, said that human capital is the foundation of the nation’s development and it is a shared responsibility between educations institutions and all different sectors to prepare skilled and trained human cadres necessary for the labour market. Al Rubaii added that Bank Muscat has a clear mechanism and methodological criteria to attract national talents to work in various jobs in the bank. At all levels, Al Rubaii encourages educational and training institutions to update and leverage on their programmes and to introduce the latest technical developments for the preparation of the Omani generations for different jobs and professions, in line with the future requirements of various sectors of development in the Sultanate and in line with the general directions of Oman’s 2040 vision
Ahmed Faqir Al Balushi, DGM – Human Resources, made a presentation on the overview of HR strategy and its alignment with the overall Bank Muscat strategy. Bank Muscat’s HR practices focus on creating, nurturing and supporting people to meet the ambitious growth plans of the bank, through a wide variety of initiatives that cover all stages of employee life cycle. Bank Muscat has outstanding leadership at all levels and has achieved 94.57 per cent Omanisation, giving priority for Omanis to occupy key positions. Of the total 3,646 employees, the number of Omani employees stands at 3,453. Omanis form 75% in the higher management and 92.6% in the middle management cadres.
The bank encourages diversity at the workplace in terms of gender, age and skill set. The human resources strategy is notable as 48 per cent of employees are women holding various positions, including senior management positions.
