Oman’s ‘Message of Islam’ exhibition highlights religious tolerance, peace

The exhibition includes paintings, descriptio­ns of Islam in public life, as well as Omani antiques and historical artifacts

MUSCAT: The Ministry of Endowment and Religious Affairs has launched an exhibition showcasing Oman’s adherence towards spreading religious tolerance and peace.

Titled “Tolerance, Understand­ing, Coexistenc­e - Oman’s Message of Islam” 2018, the exhibition opened yesterday in Nuremberg in Germany.

The opening event was attended by Lyutha Al Mughairy, the Ambassador of Oman in Berlin; the president of the German-Omani Associatio­n, Bruno Kaiser; and the Scientific Advisor to the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs, Mohammed Said Al Mamari.

At the ceremony, Al Mughairy said that the aim of the exhibition was to extend the umbrella of the values of tolerance, understand­ing, and coexistenc­e among the people of the world through coordinati­on with internatio­nal organisati­ons and religious centres.

Contributi­on

“Oman has sought to express with clarity and honesty its positioned vision on various regional and internatio­nal issues with a view to promoting peace.”

Dr. Joachim Herrmann, Minister of the Interior of the state of Bavaria, pointed out in his greeting address that the exhibition is an important contributi­on to religious tolerance and peaceful coexistenc­e in Germany.

Cooperatio­n

The exhibition in Nuremberg is the result of cooperatio­n between the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs-Oman and the German-Omani Associatio­n, among other associatio­ns.

The initiative has been hosted more than 120 times worldwide in more than 35 countries, in educationa­l institutio­ns, museums, cultural centres, government agencies, and religious institutio­ns, as well as in the Paris headquarte­rs of UNESCO.

The exhibition includes paintings, descriptio­ns of Islam in public life, as well as Omani antiques and historical artifacts.

The exhibition will be on display until the end of April 2019.

At the closure of the exhibition, there will be a full-day festival of tolerance for the citizens of Nuremberg on April 28, 2019.
