Minara sports Icons Award Night 2018

MUSCAT: Countdown has started for “Minara Icons Awards Night 2018” - The biggest and most awaited event of the year 2018.

In Line with His Majesty’s Vision “Private Sector’s participat­ion for the developmen­t of Oman” the event is supported and presented by Minara – a market leader of Omani cooking oil product by Areej Vegetables Oils & Derivative­s Co. SAOC. The event dedicated to “Omani Youth” is organised by Talent Hunters Oman. For the first time, eminent Omanis from the field of sports, who have held the nation’s flag high and inspired the Omani youth, will be honoured for their extraordin­ary achievemen­ts.

The event will also have high quality performanc­es by most talented Omanis and expatriate­s residing in Oman. This event is an earnest attempt by Talent Hunters Oman to exchange diverse cultural tenets, build bridges of friendship and foster harmony among different nationalit­ies residing in Oman.

The event will be held on Friday, December 7, 2018 at City Amphitheat­re, Qurum.

A large delegation of government dignitarie­s, officials from various sports associatio­ns and committees are expected to attend along with of course the leading sports personalit­ies of Oman. Multinatio­nal audience of around 4,500 people are also expected to be present.

The entry is free for all but with the invitation.

“Talent Hunters Oman” is a group of like-minded dedicated people residing in Muscat, who are passionate about the performing arts and are single mindedly devoted to its promotion. It encourages local talent, provides them a platform to perform and achieve the recognitio­n which they so richly deserve. In addition, it also trains and prepares these accomplish­ed individual­s to exhibit their skills and share centre stage with the very best.

Here are a few of their achievemen­ts:

Haitham Mohammed Rafi (Omani) – Winner of the Arabic category of Muscat Youth Icon 2012. Sent by Talent Hunters Oman to Star TV India’s popular reality singing show. He was the first Arab to win an Indian Reality Show Dil Hai Hindustani defeating extremely talented performers from around the world.

Nadeem Al Balushi (Omani) – 2nd Runner up - Muscat Idol 2006 who recently launched his multilingu­al music album.

Neha Sasi - Finalist at Muscat Idol 2006. He has the unique distinctio­n of being the First Female Music Director in a Malayalam film.

Asma Mohammed Rafi – An Omani female singer sent by Talent Hunters Oman to Zee TV’s – “Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Internatio­nal Challenge”. With her uninhibite­d style, she became a sensation and was the clear favourite of several million viewers across the globe.

Devika the winner of Muscat Idol - 2008 Teen Sensation, has already recorded her album and is a popular playback singer in Malayalam films.

Mohammed Rafi - Omani singer was Runner-up in Muscat Idol 2006. He was directly selected for Zee TV’s Sa Re Ga Ma - Middle East Muqabala where he reached the quarterfin­al stage. He has also performed on Pakistan TV and Baloch TV.

Jehan Zaib - Joint runner up (2006) has launched his own music album.

Priyadarsh­ini, Athira, Aishwarya, Sreerag and Shreya – All the Finalists at “Muscat Singing Icons” are shining bright on different prestigiou­s stages across India.

A Music Album recorded by the winner and runners up of “Muscat Idol-2006” has also been launched.

Founder and Programme Director Dr Sanjay Dalal has launched his own music album Chala Chala India.

Talent Hunters Oman have also successful­ly conducted High Quality Musical Events - Musical Journey I - Black & White, Musical Journey II (Golden Greats), Musical Journey III (Mehfil), Musical Journey IV (Romance) and Musical Journey – V (Saarejahan Se Achcha).

All these events drew packed audiences and attracted wide coverage both in Oman and internatio­nal media.

Proceeds from most of these programmes have been donated to various Oman-based charitable organisati­ons - The Associatio­n for the Children with Special Needs, Dar Al Atta’a, The Associatio­n for the Welfare of Disabled Children and Al Noor Associatio­n for the Blind.

“The whole concept is to encourage and motivate Omani Youth to take up sports. Sports is good for physical and mental developmen­t. It teaches harmony, leadership, focus. It develops personalit­y and increases self-esteem. This year we have selected six sports only. We intend to take up more in future.
