Sanskar and Shlok share honours at ISC

MUSCAT: Teenagers Sanskar Dubey and Shlok Ail shared top honours at the on-going Annual Tennis Tournament organized by the Indian Social Club Oman.

Undoubtedl­y and two best players at the Indian Social Club, Sanskar and Shlok have played brilliant all-round tennis that saw them reach the summit clash in the men’s singles and the Boys Under-16 singles. Sanskar captured the men’s singles crown and Shlok the Boys Under-16 singles, thereby sharing top honours.

In a highly thrilling and closely contested Men’s Singles final, Sankar Dubey had to muster all his resources to stave off the determined challenge of Shlok Ail before emerging winner with scores of 6-4, 2-6, 13-11.

Having shared the first two sets, the third set super tiebreaker was a nail-biting affair. Both Sankskar and Shlok were at their best plundering power-packed ground strokes as scores went neck-and-neck before Sanskar held his nerves to pip Shlok narrowly to win the men’s title. The intense rivalry between Shlok and Sanskar was seen in the final of the Boys Under-16 singles as well. Shlok was in ominous touch in and raced to a 4-1 lead in the first set before Sanskar held in the sixth game and broke in the seventh game to reduce the deficit.

Neither was able to hold serve as Shlok broke Sanskar again to win the first set. Shlok was just took good on the day and played brilliant tennis to sail through the second set for a fine 6-4, 6-2 victory and the Boys Under-16 title.
