Pakistan School Muscat trounce Bowsher Olympic Center

MUSCAT: Scintillat­ing centuries by Syed Muzahir Raza, Adeel Abbas and Obaid Ullah and a 6-wicket haul by Adeel powered Pakistan School Muscat (PSM) to a massive 387-run win over Bosher Olympic Center (BOC) in a Junior League Under-19 match at Oman Cricket grassy ground 2 in Amerat on Saturday.

Batting first, PSM piled up a whopping 479 for 3 in 50 overs thanks to an unbeaten 177 off 84 by Obaid, 118-ball 124 not out by Muzahir and 107 off 69 by Adeel. Boosted by two big partnershi­ps, PSM’s total included 54 fours, 5 sixes and 54 extras including 35 wides. Reduced to 25 for 2 in the 7th over, PSM was taken to 204 until further loss by an unbroken 179-run third wicket partnershi­p between Muzahir and Adeel. That was followed by an unbroken 275run partnershi­p for the fourth wicket between Muzahir and Obaid taking PSM to a record Junior League total this season.

BOC failed to offer any resistance, folding up for a meagre 92 in the 31st over. Adeel bowled a brilliant spell of 9.5 overs, five of which were maiden, taking 6 for 11. Muzahir picked up 2 wickets for 8 runs. PSM was also guilty of conceding 36 extras including 33 wide balls.

Maniz Azad win

In a Senior League F Division game, Maniz Azad Internatio­nal edged OCT Al Nahda by 5 runs at Muscat Municipali­ty ground 4.

OCT Al Nahda did well to restrict Maniz Azad to 128 for 8 in 20 overs but then fell short by 5 runs in its quota of overs despite a 25ball 36 by Ahmed Al Balushi. Aqeel Haroon bagged 3 for 12 to play a pivotal role in Manis Azad’s victory. Saleem Salam and Moses Gill scored 26 each for the winners.

Big win for Wasco

A magnificen­t 123 off 63 by opener Hiran Oliyath steered Wasco Orange to an 87-run victory against Sketch Internatio­nal in a G Division match at Muscat Municipali­ty ground 4.

Hiran’s knock was instrument­al to Wasco reaching a huge 222 for 7 in 20 overs. Jeason George and Rasik Palli contribute­d 36 and 29 respective­ly. Sukhwinder Singh and Yousuf Patanwala took two wickets each.

Facing a huge target, Sketch crumbled under immense pressure to be dismissed for 135 in the 15th over. Yousuf Patanwala topscored with 38 off 22 while Ali Asgar contribute­d 25. Jeason George picked up 3 for 17 while Deepesh Unnikoru claimed 2 for 22.

Jeason George 3-17, Deepesh Unnikoru 2-22) by 87 runs.

Suhail stars for Jarzez

A swashbuckl­ing 80 off 33 by Suhail took Jarzez Trading to a convincing 6-wicket win against Al Siraj Holdings in an H Division game at OAC 3 ground in Al Seeb.

Invited to bat first, Al Siraj posted 148 for 8 on the board in its quota of 20 overs. Gyan Ganesh and Saif Ahmed Khan were the leading scorers with 42 and 37 runs. Tahir and Aftab Hussain claimed three and two wickets respective­ly.

Opener Suhail batted brilliantl­y to steer Jarzez to victory as it raced to the target in the 14th over, scoring 152 for 4. Aftab scored 20 off 11. Gyan Ganesh picked up two wickets for 25 runs.
