Foundation Fest of Majan University College

MUSCAT: The Annual Foundation Fest of Majan University College provides a forum for its Foundation Programme students to showcase their talents, collaborate and work in teams. The event this year was held on the 4th December 2018, commencing with the Dean’s (Dr Maha Kobeil’s) inauguration at 9am. There was a fiercely fought competition between 6 football teams to reach the final, after a series of knock-out rounds. Muhannad’s team won, and Muhannad, the captain, scored the winning goal. Lecturers and staff beat students in the tug of war competition, showing that age and experience can outdo youthful exuberance! Other activities included a billiards competition, live music showcasing Majan’s musical talents, a show and tell quiz, a drama, and drawing and calligraphy competitions.

A highlight of the day was the Spell Bee competition, won by Tasneem Yousuf Al Rawahi, who was able to successfully spell words such as ‘environment’ and ‘registration’. The culinary skills of the foundation students were also showcased in a Food Court Competition, proceeds of sales going to a charitable cause. The day ended with a felicitation by the Dean and Head of the Foundation Programme. Prizes and certificates were distributed to all who were involved, bringing the day to a suitable conclusion. Majan University College seeks to develop the whole character of its students, and this event is just one way in which it seeks to achieve this goal.
