Oman Tourism College holds National Day celebrations
MUSCAT: Organised by a cadre of talented youth studying event management at the host institute, Oman Tourism College (OTC) recently held its celebrations for Oman’s 48th National Day with youth, faculty, and staff in attendance.
Following a melodic performance of the National Anthem, Dr Abdulkarim Al Mughairi, Dean of OTC delivered a speech welcoming the guests, before OTC students voiced their sentiments in English and Arabic. Poetic expressions ensued followed by a dance grounded in Omani folklore, prior to a visit from local school children and a procession across the grounds of the college.
Following the event, Al Mughairi said, “Our community spirit was never more alive than on this momentous occasion, where our nationalism echoed the mission of OTC and its purpose as a unique educational establishment.
“As set forth by the vision of His Majesty, our beloved Sultan Qaboos, we are educating and training local talent to achieve positive contributions in a fast emerging industry. Our passion for our great nation forms the bedrock for this and can be felt from the grassroots courses we offer through to the postgraduate level and spirit of our faculty. The event was a wonderful commemoration of all that has been achieved, moreover a reminder of where we are heading as a nation”.
The event saw a number of stations spread throughout campus, offering traditional Omani food and henna, before a scenic visit to the gardens for performances related to Oman’s heritage.
An exhibition was also hosted during the events festivities to boost the exposure of small and medium enterprises, whilst offering inspiration to its students on their potential as entrepreneurs.
