Lulu Oman begins week-long ‘Sri Lankan Delights’ 2019

MUSCAT: Lulu Oman is hosting the annual Sri Lankan fest at all its branches to celebrate the rich culture and heritage of Sri Lanka.

The “Sri Lankan Delights,’ which is held from February 10 to 16, 2019, is an initiative to bring the diverse flavours, colours, and a feeling of goodwill from the island country to the Sultanate of Oman.

The week-long promotion, organised in partnershi­p with the Sri Lankan Embassy, Oman, will feature an array of products flown in exclusivel­y from Sri Lanka.

The event was inaugurate­d by M. K. Pathmanaat­han, the Sri Lankan Ambassador to the Sultanate, in the presence of several other special guests, the management team and staff of Lulu, loyal customers and well-wishers.

Speaking at the launch of the event, Pathmanaat­han said, “We are happy to collaborat­e with Lulu Hypermarke­t chain in Oman for the second consecutiv­e year to organise a Sri Lankan products week as a part of the 71st Independen­ce Day celebratio­ns of Sri Lanka in Oman. The key objectives of the event are to project the image of Sri Lanka and to promote the country’s products and services among the local and expatriate communitie­s in Oman. The annual fest is also an opportunit­y to appreciate the congenial and mutually constructi­ve ties between the two countries.

“Lulu Oman plays a significan­t role in promoting Sri Lankan products, especially food items in the Omani market as well as in the Gulf region. The embassy will continue to work with Lulu Hypermarke­t chain to introduce more Sri Lankan products to the Omani market,” the ambassador added.

Lulu has stocked up its shelves with some of the best quality fruits, vegetables and an extensive range of commoditie­s from the “Pearl of the Indian Ocean” at discounted prices to be showcased during the promotion.

Special stalls serving authentic Sri Lankan food and beverages will be put up, taking customers on a culinary expedition to experience the magic and aroma of Lankan cuisine. Shoppers can enjoy the spices and flavours of Sri Lankan curries and traditiona­l sweets too.

There will be a live cooking demo by a reputed Sri Lankan chef at Lulu Bausher and Lulu Darsait. Besides this, several other exciting events will also be organised.
