Bank Muscat holds field visits to review Green Sports applications
The Green Sports initiative has benefited a total of 93 sports teams across the country to date

MUSCAT: Bank Muscat, the flagship financial services provider in the Sultanate, in step with its vision ‘To serve you better, everyday’ and commitment to support youth and promote Oman as a sporting nation, organised field visits by a committee to review and short-list 2019 Green Sports applications from sports teams for greening and infrastructure development of football fields across the Sultanate. Following the field visits, the Green Sports committee is presently reviewing the applications and will soon announce the list of 15 beneficiaries.
The 2019 Green Sports programme evoked big response as more than 95 sports teams applied seeking support for greening and infrastructure development of football fields. Ever since its inception in 2012, the programme has gained momentum with the number of applicants increasing every year. Bank Muscat recently celebrated the 53rd football field developed as part of the Green Sports initiative in the Wilayat of Dima Wataeen in Sharqiyah governorate. The unique CSR initiative reiterates the bank’s commitment to develop modern sports infrastructure across the Sultanate. Complementing government efforts in building a sporting nation, the initiative benefiting communities, especially youth, is aimed at contributing to sustainable development and all-round progress in Oman.
The Green Sports initiative has benefited a total of 93 sports teams across the country to date. The programme has spread across the entire nation, reinforcing the bank’s leadership role in social responsibility. Marking the eighth year of the unique CSR initiative, the bank will support the development of 15 football fields across the Sultanate in 2019.
The scope of Green Sports support for sports teams include greening of football fields with natural or synthetic turf, floodlights or water desalination equipment in areas facing problems of water salinity. Ensuring wider representation, the Green Sports support is extended to develop sustainable sports infrastructure in all parts of the Sultanate.
