MUSCAT: Veteran batsman Ghazanfar Iqbal slammed a sizzling century to steer MDC Enhance Eagles to a thumping 7-wicket victory against Glory Bower Strikers in an A Division encounter at Oman Cricket grassy ground 2 in Amerat on Friday.

Asked to bat first, the Strikers were dismissed 207 despite a brilliant 105 not out by Mohammed Samir batting at No. 6. Amanpreet Singh and Mohammed Mohsin claimed three wickets each.

Eagles rode on Ghazanfar’s hard-hitting 110 off only 44 balls including 19 fours and 3 sixes to surpass the target in the 21st over. Vamshi Vadthya (50 off 41) and Sudeep Chavan 32 not out off 21) were the other notable scorers.

NBO trounce Design Group

Yasir Jamal picked up three wickets while Maanas Kapoor shone with bat and ball to power NBO to a six-wicket win over Design Group Engineerin­g Consultant­s in an Intermedia­te Cup Knockout game at Muscat Municipali­ty ground 2.

NBO bundled out Design Group for a paltry 110 thanks to brilliant bowling by Yasir Jamal, Mustansar Hussain and Maanas Kapoor and then chased down the target in the 17th over, scoring 116 for 4. Maanas topscored with an unbeaten 23 while Syed Arfan Ali contribute­d 22. Mujahid Surve took two wickets.

Danish shines for Masters

Danish Mohammad hit up an unbeaten 75 to help Muscat Masters to an easy 6-wicket victory against Majees CT in an Intermedia­te Cup Knockout match at Muscat Municipali­ty ground 3.

Praveen Lewis took 3 for 19 as Majees was bowled out for 127 in the last over. Deepak Kandal and Micjael Bose got two wickets each.

Masters raced to the target in only 16.1 overs, scoring 131 for 4 thanks to superb batting by Danish who got good support from Narendra Vandaria who chipped in with a useful 30.

STS sink Douglas OHI

In another Intermedia­te Cup Knockout game, Muhammed Ali and Ajithkumar Krishna slammed sparkling half-centuries as STS Tebodin scored an emphatic 78-run win over Douglas OHI at Muscat Municipali­ty ground 2.

STS piled up 234 for 5 in 20 overs thanks to vital knocks by Ali (79), Ajithkumar (77) and Vikas Bhadoria (57) and then restricted OHI to 156 for 7. Santosh Vishwakarm­a (39) and Abhishek Rai (37) were its main scorers. Nihal and Neev Poojari bagged two wickets each.
