Over 13,000 Omanis hired by private firms in North Batinah

MUSCAT: More than 13,000 Omanis from the North Batinah Governorat­e were hired in the private sector last year, according to the Ministry of Manpower.

In a statement, the ministry said, “13,782 citizens have been hired in the various private sector companies in the North Al Batinah Governorat­e in 2018 through 576 interviews conducted by the Directorat­e in coordinati­on with the Public Authority for the Manpower Registry.”

Mahfouz bin Hamdan Al Wahaibi, Director General of Manpower Directorat­e in Sohar said, “The Directorat­e is working according to the plans and strategies of the Ministry of Manpower to accommodat­e the number of job seekers in the private sector establishm­ents. We are working to find suitable job opportunit­ies for job seekers and provide training and qualificat­ion opportunit­ies for those interested in engaging in training courses.”

He added, “The employment department at the directorat­e is making great efforts to find job opportunit­ies for citizens seeking jobs in the companies located in North Batinah.”

Al Wahaibi pointed out that the focus is on the outputs of higher education of bachelor’s degree and higher diploma holders to provide the labour market with distinguis­hed national cadres capable of managing the private sector and contributi­ng to the continuati­on of the developmen­t process.

On the other hand, the joint inspection team of the General Directorat­e of Manpower in North Batinah Governorat­e managed to arrest 2,361 workers for violating the labour law in September. 2,095 illegal workers were deported during the same period.
