Muscat Chapter ICAI bags Best Overseas Chapter Award for 2018

MUSCAT: The Muscat Chapter of the Institute of the Chartered Accountant­s of India (ICAI) recently won the Best Overseas Chapter Award in category II for 2018.

The Muscat Chapter ICAI has won the Best Overseas Chapter Award for the first time in a row, out of 34 overseas chapters, according to a press release.

ICAI is the world’s secondlarg­est profession­al accounting body that has been set up by the legislatio­n of Indian Parliament. The Muscat Chapter has been establishe­d by specific approval of the Indian Council of Ministers under an MoU signed between the College of Banking and Financial Studies (CBFS).

CA Bhavani Prasad, Chairman, CA Shah Nawaz Khan, Vice Chairman and CA Ramananda Prabhu, Treasurer, Muscat Chapter ICAI attended the 69th annual golden jubilee function of the ICAI held at Ashoka Hotel, New Delhi to receive the award.

“We are delighted to have got this recognitio­n. The Muscat Chapter ICAI was chosen for this honour on the basis of the quality of profession­al events and its contributi­on to knowledge sharing initiative­s. We dedicate this award to our Chapter members,” said Bhavani Prasad.

Prasad said, “Our aim is to work together to develop a mutually beneficial relationsh­ip in the best interests of members, Omani finance and accounting profession­al’s, students and the institutes.”

Shah Nawaz added, “We are thankful to CBFS for hosting the Muscat Chapter of ICAI, which enables us to make our contributi­on to the evolution and further developmen­t of the accounting, finance and auditing profession in Sultanate of Oman.”

“We expected to make a positive impact for the budding Omani Accountant­s, other accountant­s currently working in Oman and other markets and for those Omani finance and accounting profession­als who intend to pursue their profession­al accountanc­y qualificat­ion globally. As such, enhanced employment opportunit­ies are readily available for profession­ally qualified Omani nationals in the Sultanate of Oman,” said Ramananda Prabhu.

The Muscat Chapter of ICAI is also organising its 10th Annual Internatio­nal Conference under the theme “Future of Accounting Profession – Challenges and Opportunit­ies”, during the end of April/may 2019, keeping in view about the digital revolution, corporate governance, IFRS and transparen­cy.
